KUALA LUMPUR: Ministers and deputy ministers were notably absent from the Dewan Rakyat around 5pm today as the motion of thanks for the Royal Address was being debated.
The second day of the Fourth Session of the 15th Parliament was scheduled to run until 7pm.
A photo that has gone viral, allegedly taken in the Dewan Rakyat at 5.28pm, showed the ministers' and deputy ministers' seats were mostly empty.
It is unclear from the photo who the remaining ministers or deputy ministers were.
When asked, Datuk Khlir Mohd Nor (PN-Ketereh), who was waiting for his turn to debate, confirmed that there were no ministers or deputy ministers present.
Thirteen MPs were scheduled to debate, with Khlir being the 11th person to do so.
"Yes, they (ministers and deputy ministers) were missing even before 5.30pm," he said when contacted. -NST
