Son, girlfriend held over murder of elderly woman

BUTTERWORTH: 

Police have arrested a couple, including the son of an elderly woman, whose body was found at an apartment here last Friday.

Penang police chief Hamzah Ahmad said the suspect and his girlfriend, in their 20s, were arrested at a house in Paya Terubong on the island at about 6.30am today.

Hamzah said an investigation is ongoing to determine the motive for the alleged murder of the woman, who was in her 60s.

He said both suspects have been remanded for seven days.

The woman’s body was discovered after neighbours reported a foul smell coming from the house. - FMT
