• brief visit offensive and dismissive
• Spending only about 30 minutes at the site
• failed to show genuine respect for the festival 
• or the community gathered in devotion to Lord Murugan.
• Adding to lack of sincerity accompanied by Khalistan
• whose presence contributed little to the occasion
• attempt to compensate for failure to appoint Tamil minister
• did not even step into the office of the temple 
• arrived without usual entourage of cars, bodyguards
• calculated move to project image of authority,  arrogance
• to impress upon Tamils their fate depended on his goodwill
• chose to visit days before the festival
• likely out of fear of alienating Muslims
• This visit was not about respect or solidarity 
• but about political maneuvering
• If he truly cared would have visited on Thaipusam itself
• rather than staging a brief appearance beforehand
• Hindus are not naïve
• they recognize political tokenism when they see it
