PETALING JAYA
A change in wind direction caused a paratrooper to collide with a motorcyclist when landing during an exercise yesterday.

The armed forces said the incident, which was captured in a video which has gone viral, occurred in the Tanjung Bidara area in Melaka during the Eagle Swift Free Fall parachute exercise series.

The corporal from the 18th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment was making his final approach towards the landing zone at Terendak Camp when a change in wind direction caused him to deviate from the course and land in a nearby area.

During the landing, the paratrooper accidentally collided with a motorcycle being ridden by a civilian.

The airstrip landing zone’s recovery team checked both parties involved and found that the motorcyclist did not suffer any injuries.

The motorcyclist left the scene before further details could be obtained, while the corporal who sustained minor injuries was taken to the Terendak Camp hospital for treatment. - FMT
