
Lahad Datu police chief Dzulbaharin Ismail said the baby was discovered by a passerby at around 2pm.
He said the baby was believed to have died before being found, Harian Metro reported.
“The body has been sent to the Lahad Datu Hospital forensic unit for a post-mortem,” he was quoted as saying in a statement today.
Dzulbaharin said the case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealing a birth and disposing of a body, punishable by up to two years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both.
News of the body’s discovery has reportedly been circulating on social media since yesterday afternoon. - FMT
