JOHOR BARU: Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi joined Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry enforcement officers to check on the sale of RON95 at several petrol stations in the city.

The operation, Onn Hafiz said, was to ensure subsidised fuel is sold only to locally-registered vehicles.

"During this operation, we examined the compliance of petrol station operators with the ban on selling RON95 to foreigners," he stated in a Facebook post.

He added that they also checked compliance with the 20-litre limit on diesel for foreign vehicles within a 50km radius of the border.

Accompanied by Johor Investment, Trade, Consumer Affairs, and Human Resources Committee chairman Lee Ting Han, Onn Hafiz said that state and federal authorities were committed to ensuring subsidies were only enjoyed by Malaysians.

"Action will be taken against those who sell RON95 to foreign vehicles or increase prices above the stipulated rate."

He also urged the public to play their part in reporting any breach of the rules to the authorities.

"We will continue monitoring efforts to ensure subsidies reach only those who are eligible for them." - NST
