Cypark Resources Bhd today announced the appointment of Abdul Wahid Omar as its independent non-executive director and chairperson of the board, effective June 9.
The renewable energy company said in a statement today that his appointment coincides with Hamidah Moris transitioning her role from chairperson to group managing director.
To support Cypark’s growing technical ambitions, Gue See Sew has been appointed as an independent non-executive director, also effective June 9.
The company said these changes reflect the board’s strategic direction to strengthen independent oversight while empowering proven executive leadership.
“The separation of the chairperson and managing director roles ensures a high standard of governance, transparency and accountability, in line with best practices for Bursa Malaysia-listed companies,” it added.
Abdul Wahid was most recently the Bursa Malaysia Bhd chairperson and was a minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economic Planning) from 2013-2016.
