An MP is calling for a ceasefire after MIC deputy president M Saravanan took aim at his PKR counterpart Nurul Izzah Anwar over her alleged contribution to the Indian community.
PKR lawmaker P Prabakaran (above) said finger-pointing was not constructive, and that a more mature approach was required.
"As such, I propose a roundtable be held soon," he said in a statement yesterday.
He said the roundtable should include representatives from the government, opposition, civil society, public policy experts and academics, as well as Indian community leaders.
Prabakaran added that the roundtable should aim to objectively evaluate existing objectives and policies aimed at the Indian community, present facts and data to support any arguments made and form an effective and inclusive joint solution.
On Thursday, Nurul Izzah defended her quiet approach to addressing Indian Malaysian issues, saying silence doesn’t equate to inaction.

The former MP said she preferred working behind the scenes to achieve concrete results, rather than putting on a show when commenting on proposed initiatives to empower the Indian community under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP).
Elaborating further, Nurul Izzah shared her experience working with then-Klang MP Charles Santiago and other teams in a series of roundtables to discuss issues affecting Indian Malaysians.
Saravanan then challenged the PKR deputy president to substantiate her claims of working behind the scenes to address Indian community issues. - Mkini
