KUALA LUMPUR: A forest fire broke out at Taman Puncak Jalil, Seri Kembangan, this evening, engulfing an estimated two acres of hilly woodland.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operation commander, Assistant Division Commander I Nor Azuwan Zulghoni, said the first call was received at 9.27pm and fire engines arrived at the scene 13 minutes later.

"Firefighting operations are ongoing, involving 18 personnel from Seri Kembangan Fire and Rescue station, assisted by teams from Bukit Jalil and Sri Petaling Fire and Rescue stations," he said in a statement.

Nor Azuwan said three fire engines and one emergency medical response service vehicle were deployed to the scene.

"The fire involves a hilly forest area covering roughly two acres. Our crews are working intensively to contain the blaze and prevent further spread," he added.

He said that no casualties had been reported, and there was no damage to nearby residential or commercial properties.

The operation is ongoing under close supervision, and additional personnel remain on standby to assist if required. - NST
