Altantuya Shaariibuu, has said that he did not want to cast aspersion against the police force.
Abdul Razak Baginda (pic), who caused a stir with his interview on
He was responding to Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar who took umbrage at Razak’s “rogue police remark”.
“I fully agree with the Inspector-General of Police’s reported statement that there were ‘rogue elements in every organisation, not all custodial deaths were due to police brutality’. It was these elements that were being referred to and only in limited cases as stated by the IGP,” he said in a statement today.
Razak said any generalisation on his part in reference to the police in the interview was unintentional and was regretted.
“I apologise unreservedly to the Royal Malaysian Police. The remark referred to in the news report was not in any way calculated to cast any aspersion on the integrity of the police.
“During my incarceration for 22 months, I have the greatest respect for the police.”
