BN will be better prepared to regain Selangor at next general election, says Prime Minister.
KUALA KUBU BARU: Barisan Nasional will be better prepared to regain Selangor at the next general election, said party president and Prime Minister Najib Razak yesterday.
Najib said his party was ready now unlike in the last general election when Selangor Umno showed him a graph of a particular area which they said enjoyed the strong support of Umno.
He said that based on the confidence of Selangor Umno, Barisan Nasional had subsequently organised a programme in which 30,000 participated, giving the added impression that they would vote for the ruling coalition.
However Pakatan Rakyat won convincingly in Selangor in the 2013 general election and went on to form the state government, repeating its win at the 12th general election in 2008.
“We had been duped,” Najib said at the Umno Hulu Langat division meeting, The Rakyat Post reported.
Our efforts were a waste of time as the Opposition won, he conceded.
Najib said however that when the party prepares for the next general election, it would be fully aware of the situation and take the necessary steps to deny the Opposition from winning yet again.
