Investigation papers have been opened on individuals who threatened informers, says its deputy commissioner.
BALING: The people need not worry about providing information on corruption as their action will be protected by law, says the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Deputy Commissioner (management and professionalism) Jamidan Abdullah said witnesses who cooperated on corruption cases would be protected under the Witness Protection Act 2009.
“We have also opened investigation papers to investigate individuals who threatened informers,” he told reporters after an event, “Popularise MACC” here today.
He said the people should not fear about coming forward with information as the MACC would conduct its duties in a transparent manner to seek justice for them.
Meanwhile, Kedah MACC director Mohd Fauzi Muhamad said the commission arrested 55 people since early this year compared with 22 during the same period last year.
“This achievement is due to quality information received from the people to help MACC stamp out corruption,” he said.
