The media and social media have an important role to play in enlightening the public through their reports, said Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
"In a world without borders, efforts (are made) by various parties including media and social media to give coverage and expose (issues).
"It is hoped that these reports and exposes will create awareness among the public," Zahid said in Putrajaya today.
The deputy premier was speaking at a breaking fast event for the police and media in his official residence.
Zahid made no mention of what type of reports or exposes he meant.
His remark comes a week after PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli began a series of exposes regarding alleged misuse of public funds by the prime minister's wife Rosmah Mansor to charter a private jet.
Meanwhile, Zahid said he hoped the police and other enforcement agencies would appreciate the media's work.
He also hoped further joint media and police events can be held, including a Hari Raya celebration this year to foster better ties between the two.
"I hope the media (personnel) will bring their wives and husbands and families so that my wife and I can get to know the media personally," he added. - Mkini
