BN is expected to come out with new candidates for every state assembly seat in Malacca in the upcoming 14th general election.
Malacca BN chairperson Idris Haron, who is also Malacca chief minister, was reported saying the decision was made after several incumbent state assemblypersons said they do not want to defend their respective seats.
As such, the BN state leadership will list down five or six names of new candidates who are deemed fit to represent BN.
“I was told that certain areas will come out with up to eight names. I think this is healthy,” Sinar Harian quoted Idris telling reporters.
However, the final decision on the BN candidates will be made by the party’s top leadership, he said.
Meanwhile, Idris expressed his confidence in BN’s chances in the coming election, claiming they could wrest several seats currently held by the opposition.
“Malacca’s rapid development is enough to prove how we have made various efforts to develop this state,” he said. - Mkini
