Former Federal Land Authority (Felda) chairperson Mohd Isa Abdul Samad has been released from custody today after his five-day remand period expired.
This is after he was allowed bail of RM150,000 with a personal bond of another RM350,000, plus two sureties.
Isa was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Aug 15 to facilitate investigations, which is reportedly about Felda subsidiary Felda Investment Corporation’s (FIC) purchase of two hotels – one in London and one in Kuching.
He was brought to the Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court at 9:49am in an MACC vehicle.
Upon his arrival, Isa was greeted by about 80 supporters, some of whom cheered “Long live tan sri!” (Hidup tan sri!) as he was escorted to the courtroom. His wife Bibi Sharliza Mohd Khalid was also seen among the group.
Isa, who was wearing an orange MACC lockup uniform but was not handcuffed, appeared calm and smiled at his supporters as he walked past.
