The fracas at the Nothing to Hide 2.0 forum, which witnessed chairs and slippers thrown in Dr Mahathir Mohamad's direction, had been condemned by various ministers.
However, Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz was not as sympathetic.
"He asked for it," said the Umno supreme council member when asked if the 92-year-old politician deserved to be treated in such a manner.
"He wants to be a street fighter, you want to behave like a gangster, that's what you get. You don't want to behave like a statesman, that's what you get," he told reporters in Shah Alam this afternoon.
Nazri was also not surprised that the opposition is pointing the finger at Umno with regard to the violence which erupted at Sunday's forum.
"Yeah, everything is (has to do with) Umno.
“Tomorrow, if somebody passes away, it is also (because of( Umno. Why would we waste time on a stupid show like that?" he said.
