So far found 400 Pakistani men  married local women
10 to 15 travel permits cancelled 
foreigners not living with wives

not normal for men  20 - 30 yr old to marry 50 year olds
just to stay in M'sia and operate businesses

the Pakistanis operated small retail stores, sold carpets
there seemed to be more of them now

We conduct visits to identify if they are married 
living with their spouses 
or if marriage is to stay in country

this group wants to make profit the easy way

My comments :  I have blogged about this many, many times before - about  Nigerians, Iranians, Arabs, Pakistanis, etc. Far too many Nigerians were involved in all sorts of scams. Far too many Iranians were involved in drugs. Some Arabs are involved in terrorist and religious extremist activities. 


I have written about Pakistani men marrying local women for residency purposes. There are also too many cases of cheating. I knew of two cases where people here were cheated - one a local woman who lost RM50,000 and another a restaurant guy who lost RM40,000.

This report above says that many Pakistanis are entering into marriages of convenience with local women to get PR. This is an old story.  

This has been going on for over 20 years. Again there are simple solutions to all this.

Soalan pertama - how does the pejabat kadi allow these marriages? Because when Malaysian Muslims get married (for example in Selangor) they insist that both the boy and the girl provide documentary evidence that they are residents of the area where their addresses are.  The pejabat kadi will also need documentary proof (including a letter from an employer??) that so and so is bujang. (What about second wives?) So how come the Pakistanis can so easily marry these local women?

Obviously money is involved. The Pakistanis can pay the 50 year olds some 'consultation fees' for these marriage services. There has to be 'close one eye' by the kadis as well. 

It looks like the Jabatan Imigresen has just woken up to this problem. Ini masalah yang sudah lama berlaku dalam negara kita. 

And there are other social complications. There are cases of these Pakistani husbands abandoning their wives and children and returning back to Pakistan, never to be seen again or returning here and 'starting up' elsewhere. 

While we are on the subject has the Jabatan Imigreen 'closed the big hole' in the border fencing in Bukit Kayu Hitam? The human traffickers would pass their human cargo through this hole into the Duty Free Zone area  where their local runners will pick them up in vans and disappear into the night. 

There has been a lot of 'close one eye' going on in the country - especially by the Jabatan Imigresen. Like they are only finding out now about this problem of Pakistanis marrying local women. Only now they realise that that stinky smell is actually something that has stuck to their shoes for all these years.

The biggest problem of Pakistanis marrying local women is not in Kelantan. Check out Masjid India, Nilai 3, Selangor in general and other areas.

There are also genuine cases of foreigners marrying locals - both men and women. But we are not

One way to weed out the fakes is to make it a rule that a minimum THREE YEARS residence inside Malaysia is needed before a Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Indonesian, Nigerian etc can marry a local. 

It has to be country specific because this problem is usually caused by people from these few poor Third World countries who want to take advantage of our system.  These rules need not apply for people from Iceland, Japan, Germany or Taiwan.

• To detect frauds, U.S. immigration authorities require a lot of proof that a marriage is real, including more documentation than for other family-based immigration applicants. 
• They subject marriage-based immigrants to a longer and more detailed personal interview than other applicants go through. 
• As well as a two-year testing period for couples who have been married less than two years when their green card is approved or when they enter the U.S. on their immigrant visa.

But here is the bigger problem : Will the new Pakatan Harapan government undertake real actions to solve all these very old problems with foreigners? Or will it be 'close one eye' also?
