KOTA KINABALU: An Australian man was seriously injured following an attack at Kg Kiwoi, Tamparuli, some 40km from here on Thursday (Jan 24).
The victim, 46, a homestay operator married to a local here, was said to have been in an argument with a suspect before he was slashed at about 2.30pm.
Tuaran police chief Deputy Supt Dzulbaharin Ismail said the suspect, a local in his 30s, started chasing and attacking the victim following an argument.
"The victim was slashed on his arm and back," he said.

DSP Dzulbaharin said the suspect fled into a nearby forest and went into hiding following the attack.
"We are hunting the suspect," he said.
According to him, villagers in the area went to the victim's aid when they saw him lying on the ground covered with blood.
"They called the authorities, and the victim is now being treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital," he said.
The victim is reported to have lost quite a lot of blood following the slash wounds but is in stable condition.- Star
