CAMERON POLLS | Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's presence in Cameron Highlands does not indicate that Pakatan Harapan is fighting a losing battle, said Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin.
He said the people of Cameron Highlands wanted to meet the premier in person after the 14th general election to receive his message.
"The voters want to listen (to him speak). So, (please) do not perceive that we are going to lose just because he is coming.
"He is committed to helping the election machinery in Cameron Highlands," he told a press conference in Kuala Medang.
Muhyiddin pointed out that Harapan's top leaders have helped campaign in previous by-elections contested by the ruling coalition.
The Bersatu president said he is hoping that Mahathir and other Harapan top leaders would also campaign in the upcoming Semenyih by-election.
For the record, Mahathir has campaigned in all by-elections since the 14th general election, including Port Dickson where his designated successor Anwar Ibrahim contested.
The campaigning for the Cameron Highlands parliament seat will end at the stroke of midnight.
Harapan has entrusted DAP's M Manogaran with the task of capturing the seat for a third time, whereas BN is hoping to retain its stronghold through former senior police officer Ramli Mohd Nor.
There are also two independent candidates in the race. - Mkini
