SEMENYIH POLLS | BN and PAS today took yet another step towards closer cooperation, forging a commitment to plan together for the Semenyih by-election campaign.
This was announced during a joint press conference by Selangor Umno liaison chief Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Selangor PAS commissioner Sallehen Mukhyi.
Ismail, in thanking PAS for making way for BN during the by-election which will be held on March 2, said the cooperation between the two parties will be better than during previous by-elections.
“In the past (our relationship) was loose. It only involved organising campaign events together. For Semenyih, it will be more comprehensive.
“We will identify (and mobilise) our (respective) supporters,” he said.
Ismail said a joint committee will be set up with PAS in order to coordinate campaign activities, press conferences and other efforts.
“I am confident that by working together, we will have a chance of winning in Semenyih,” he said.
Prior to the press conference, Selangor Umno held a meeting which identified six possible candidates.
“The six possible candidates include women, youths and professionals. The party leadership will make the final decision,” he said.
Semenyih has been a BN stronghold until the 14th general election last year, where Pakatan Harapan’s Bakhtiar Mohd Nor won by securing 50.7 percent of the vote.
