Cops raid Goldman's KL lawyers' office for 1MDB-related documents

A police team from the Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) is at the law firm of Messrs Rahmat Lim & Partners to search for documents linked to 1MDB.
This was confirmed by CCID acting director Deputy Comm Saiful Azly Kamaruddin, who said that the search is ongoing at the law firm located at Mid-Valley City in Kuala Lumpur.
Earlier, The Edge reported that police had obtained a court orderto look for documents related to three 1MDB bonds handled by Goldman Sachs.
Rahmat Lim & Partners was the lawyers' firm representing the US investment banking giant during the issuance of the 1MDB bonds in 2012 and 2013 totalling US$6.5 billion, it reported.
"The police team went to the firm at 10am and we are in the midst of getting the documents," Saiful told Malaysiakini.
He refused to divulge details of the documents the police are looking for.
It is learned that the raid was handled by the Financial and Corporate Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) of the department.
The Edge also claimed that police had obtained related documents from another legal firm, Wong & Partners, but this was refuted by Saiful.
"We were looking at only one legal firm (Rahmat & Lim). Not Wong & Partners," he said.
