Don't spread negative sentiments about King's resignation, warns IGP

KUCHING: Don't stir up negative sentiments about the resignation of Sultan Muhammad V as the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, says Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.
“We hope that no one will exploit the issue of the King stepping down or raise negative perceptions about it,” he said.
Mohamad Fuzi added that the police were investigating a number of reports that had been lodged on the matter.
“These are mostly related to social media posts. Give us time and space to investigate.
“We will complete our investigations as quickly as possible and refer them to the deputy public prosecutor for further action,” he told reporters after presenting the Pingat Jasa Pahlawan Negara to 347 serving officers in the Sarawak police force here on Monday (Jan 7).
News of the King stepping down came in a statement by the Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Wan Ahmad Dahlan Ab Aziz on Sunday (Jan 6) evening.
The statement said the King, who began his reign on Dec 13, 2016, had resigned from his post in accordance with Article 32(3) of the Federal Constitution.- Star
