MIRI: A woman, believed to be a foreigner from an Asian country, plunged to her death from a high-rise condominium located in a posh seafront neighbourhood in Miri on Tuesday (Jan 22).
The body of the foreign national, whose identity has not been released by the police, was found sprawled on the ground floor at about 3am.
Miri police chief Asst Comm Lim Meng Seah said police have so far ruled out foul play.
"The woman, in her 20s, was found dead by a passerby at about 3.05am on the ground next to the building along Tanjong Lobang.
"Paramedics in an ambulance rushed to the scene and found the woman already dead.
"We have classified the case as sudden death," he added.
A post-mortem is scheduled to be conducted on the victim's remains.
ACP Lim said initial probe indicated that the deceased had fallen from a unit on the upper section of the building.
The police have yet to release details on what the woman was doing in Miri and whether she was a tourist or working in Miri.
Located about 3km from Miri city centre, Tanjong Lobang is a popular beachfront area.- Star
