KUALA LIPIS: Former prime minister Najib Razak says he is campaigning in the Cameron Highlands by-election at the request of the local community.
Najib, who went on a walkabout at the morning market at Felda Sungai Koyan 1 here today, said the residents had invited him there as a show of appreciation for the work done by the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) administration.
“I have come to campaign on the wishes of the local community and Pahang Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, who is the director of operations for the BN Cameron Highlands by-election machinery.
“I have done a lot for them,” he said as he posed for photographs with several people at the market.
He added that BN had a good chance of retaining the seat in the by-election this Saturday.
The Cameron Highlands by-election will see a four-cornered contest among M Manogaran of Pakatan Harapan, Ramli Mohd Noor of BN and independent candidates Wong Seng Yee and Sallehudin Ab Talib.

It was triggered after the Election Court nullified the victory of BN’s C Sivarraajh due to vote-buying. - FMT
