CAMERON HIGHLANDS – Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has to accept the reality that he has ruined the country’s economy, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The PKR president said Najib turned the country’s economy one of the worst in the world.

Citing the 1MDB scandal and issues pertaining to Tabung Haji and FGV Holdings Bhd, he said the Pakatan Harapan government was left with a major financial mess to clean up.

“When I travelled to other countries, many leaders asked me how allowed someone to take so much money.

Anwar said after all that Najib had done, he still had the audacity to come to Cameron Highlands to face the people.

“He is so ‘hardworking’ to come here but it is his right as a citizen. He can still campaign and ask people to give Barisan a chance, he said.

Anwar also apologised to the people for the current state of the country’s economy.

“I have to say sorry because there was a lot to do over the past eight months – but it cannot be compared to 61 years.

“Please give us a few more years for us to revive the economy,” he said.
