Lokman Adam released on police bail

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno supreme council member Datuk Lokman Noor Adam (pic) has been released on police bail.
The Pemantau Malaysia Baru (PMB) president, who was arrested on Thursday (Jan 10) night to assist in investigations into sedition, was seen leaving Dang Wangi Police District Headquarters (IPD) at about 10.30am on Friday (Jan 11).
Lokman was detained on Thursday after he was called in by Bukit Aman CID in connection with an investigation under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act.
He was held overnight at the Dang Wangi IPD.

Upon his release, he was met by a group of supporters, including fellow Umno member Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos.

When met by the press outside the IPD, Lokman said he was thankful to be released as he could now attend the nomination day for the Cameron Highlands by-election on Saturday (Jan 12).
"I just want to say that no matter how many times we are locked up, our struggle will live on and continue.
"I was treated well by police personnel and officers, and I salute their professionalism," he said.
Lokman added that he had also lodged a police report alleging that there was a cover-up in the investigation into the murder of Fire and Rescue Department personnel Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, 24.
Muhammad Adib, of the Subang Jaya fire and rescue station, was seriously injured while on duty during riots at the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple on Nov 27.
He passed away on Dec 17, and the police reclassifed the case as murder.
"Up to the time I was arrested yesterday (Thursday), no inquest has been conducted.
"It saddens me even more that there is a delay in delivering justice for Muhammad Adib," he added.
Lokman called on the people to reject a government that practises the "law of the jungle".
"We will continue with our struggle for the people," he said.- Star
