BUKIT MERTAJAM: A man was killed while his co-worker escaped with injuries after a concrete wall of a house that was being renovated collapsed on them.
Penang fire operation and safety officer Nafis Ariff Abdullah said the victim, identified as Chiam Meng Kuang, 65, died at the scene.
He said Chiam’s colleague, Mohd Isa Saleh, 42, suffered injuries to his head and was sent to the Bukit Mertajam Hospital.
It was learnt that Chiam and Mohd Isa were breaking down the wall of the house in Jalan Tembikai, Taman Sri Rambai, here, when the incident occurred yesterday.

Nafis said they received a call at 3.17pm and deployed a team to the site.
He said when they arrived, Chiam was found trapped beneath the pile of crumbled concrete wall.
“We retrieved and sent his remains to the hospital for a post-mortem,” he said.- Star
