Manogaran: If Harapan proven to use gov't vehicle, we will stop

CAMERON POLLS | Pakatan Harapan’s candidate for the Cameron Highlands by-election, M Manogaran, has reminded his machinery to abide by election rules.
He said this after a Harapan deputy minister was accused of using a government vehicle when campaigning.
While he was still determining the facts of the case as he had been busy campaigning, Manogaran insisted that he was against the abuse of official resources for political purposes.
“If it was proven (that the vehicle was used), we will stop.
“Sometimes this kind of things may happen [...] If we have done wrong we will correct it,” he told the media when met while campaigning in Felda village Sungai Koyan 1 today.
Manogaran added that Harapan was committed to running a “clean and fair” election.
“We will comply with the Election Offences Act 1954, we must comply with the law in line with our call for a clean and fair election and a level playing field.
“We ask everybody not to misuse government machinery,” he said.
Former Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak earlier uploaded a photograph of a black four-wheel drive vehicle with "PHD Raub" written across the back and with the Harapan flag on its sides.
The Pekan MP also included a screenshot of the Election Commission's Election Code of Ethics, pointing out that government vehicles cannot be used for campaign purposes.
Pahang state secretary Sallehuddin Ishak has since confirmed that the vehicle belonged to the state’s Forestry Department.
The department was authorised to loan the vehicle to a ministry for "official use" by a deputy minister, Sallehuddin added.
"However, after the vehicle was found to be 'plastered' with logo of a political party, I have instructed for the vehicle to be immediately returned," he said.  -Mkini
