Mat Hasan thanks PAS for helping BN retain Cameron

CAMERON POLLS | De facto Umno president Mohamad Hasan has cited BN’s co-operation with PAS as one of the reasons for Ramli Mohd Nor’s victory in the Cameron Highlands by-election.

“The cooperation and help from PAS, especially, has clearly borne fruit in this by-election.

“As we expected, the voters who voted for PAS in the 14th general election have placed their trust in BN,” Mohamad said in a press conference at the SMK Sultan Ahmad Shah in Tanah Rata tonight.

The press conference was held after the Election Commission (EC) officially announced BN candidate Ramli as the winner with a 3,238-vote majority at the school, which is the official tallying centre.

Mohamad pointed to polling districts which had previously voted for PAS, and which had voted for BN this time around, as proof that the BN-PAS alliance is working.

“This is a good strategy and we will continue using this strategy,” he said.

In a Facebook post, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang congratulated BN for winning with a larger vote majority in this by-election.

“(We) see this result as a positive development towards better co-operation among the opposition bloc,” he said.

Previously, BN’s C Sivarraajh won the Cameron Highlands seat in GE14 with a 597-vote majority.  - Mkini
