PETALING JAYA – It was a battle of wits between Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad on social media.
The former prime minister “started” the war when he posted on Facebook a picture of himself and Khalid engaging in a conversation with people in a hall.
It was accompanied by the caption “Oh, on my left is the boss (tauke) of Harapan Coin.”
“That day he was stunned when he rode the MRT. As long as he is not surprised that Camerons has strawberries, that’s fine,” he said.
Najib’s post was a jab at Khalid’s proposal to introduce the Harapan Coin cryptocurrency in July last year.
He also made a reference to reports that Khalid was impressed with the MRT project.
Khalid, however, was quick to parry Najib’s remarks.
“Introducing, on my right, the tauke of 1MDB.
“It’s better to be the tauke of Harapan Coin than be the tauke of 1MBD that stole the people’s money,” he tweeted.
Their exchange, of course, drew a good response from netizens.
One person Mat Mat cheekily asked where Najib learnt to post such comments.
“Everyday, I’m entertained, I’ll give a like,” he said.
As for Khalid’s tweet, many felt that his posting was dull.
“Not fun la YB, make a joke that is more solid. The 1MDB matter has become stale, and that does not build up the nation,” said Twitter user Titi Ruslan.
