KUANTAN: Tengku Puan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Iskandar will only hold the Tengku Ampuan Pahang title for two days before she is named the Raja Permaisuri Agong.
The consort of Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah is set to be proclaimed as the fifth Tengku Ampuan Pahang on Jan 29, two days before the Sultan of Pahang takes his oath of office as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Tunku Azizah, 58, was born at Istana Bukit Stulang, Johor Baru, on Aug 5, 1960, to Almarhum Sultan Iskandar and Almarhumah Enche’ Besar Hajah Khalsom Abdullah.
Her brother Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar is currently the reigning Sultan of Johor.
Tunku Azizah married Sultan Abdullah in March 1986.
She is known to be passionate in various fields of the arts, of which cooking is among one of her favourite activities.
Tunku Azizah displayed her culinary skills at public events and even cooked for flood victims. Her cookbook Air Tangan Tengku Puan Pahang was published in March 2005.
The Tengku Puan is also active in social and charitable movements including being vice-president of the Girl Guides Association of Malaysia.
She is the founder of the Tunku Azizah Fertility Foundation.
Her proclamation as Tengku Ampuan Pahang on Tuesday would be held concurrently with that of her eldest son Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, who has been named the new Tengku Mahkota Pahang.- Star
