Pahang failed to provide suitable land for affordable homes, says minister

Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin says state governments need to identify ‘suitable and strategic locations’ for affordable housing projects.

KUALA LIPIS: The Pahang government has failed to provide suitable land for the development of affordable housing projects as requested by the federal government, Zuraida Kamaruddin said.

“I have been asking the state government to offer us the right land to develop affordable housing projects but they have not given us the land,” the housing and local government minister said.

She said each state government needed to identify suitable and strategic locations for affordable homes.

Zuraida, who is also a PKR vice-president, said the federal government would not discriminate against the state government although it was an opposition state.

“The central government is not like the previous BN (Barisan Nasional government). We will not cut the allocations that should be given to them,” she told reporters after attending a traditional cooking competition at Kampung Sungai Koyan 3 here today.

On the Cameron Highlands by-election, she hoped Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) M Manogaran would win as it would set the pace for Pahang to be taken over by PH in the next general election. - FMT
