The central Bersatu leadership has taken over the running of its Perlis chapter, starting today.
According to party secretary-general Marzuki Yahya, the arrangement will last until the issues involving the state chapter are sorted.
"We will look for a solution, but meanwhile, the Perlis Bersatu will be taken over by the headquarters, starting today," he told Malaysiakini.
Marzuki, who is also deputy foreign minister, urged all quarters to refrain from issuing further statements on the matter.
Earlier this week, Perlis Bersatu removed National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN) chairperson Wan Saiful Wan Jan as its secretary.
State chairperson Ameir Hassan told Malaysiakini that the decision was made as Wan Saiful was too busy with his role in PTPTN and unable to commit to the party matters.
In return, Wan Saiful said that he was removed as he had exposed alleged wrongdoingsin Perlis Bersatu. He claimed that documents were falsified at Perlis Bersatu to claim hundreds of thousands of ringgit.
Marzuki had previously said that the Bersatu leadership had noticed an issue with the Perlis chapter earlier, adding that a revamp will be conducted if necessary.
Asked about the possible revamp today, Marzuki said a decision will only be made after the current issues in the chapter are sorted. - Mkini
