RARE LOBBYING TO BE AGONG AMID TALK OF ROYAL PARDON FOR DISGRACED PM NAJIB: IN A HURRY OR NOT, SULTAN ABDULLAH’S BID TO BE KING HYPED UP BY BN-LINKED MEDIA WITH REPORTS OF PAHANG FOLK IN ‘PALPABLE EXCITEMENT’ FOR HIS ELECTION

KUANTAN – The excitement is palpable in Pahang as the Conference of Rulers convenes on Thursday to decide on who will be the country’s 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Pahang folk firmly believe that the new Pahang Sultan, Al Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah, will be the new King.

Haszuwira Awang, who owns a self-service launderette in Indera Mahkota, said Al Sultan Abdullah’s standing and experience in being the Acting Pahang Sultan and Crown Prince is proof that he is ready to assume the role.

“Being proud people of Pahang, we are definitely hoping, and would be ecstatic if our Sultan becomes the new Yang di-Pertuan Agong. Al-Sultan Abdullah is very close to his people and keeps abreast of the development and issues concerning his people’s welfare regardless of race or religion,” he said.

A retiree, Chua Ho Beng, 65, from Batu 8 here, said the new Sultan of Pahang’s wisdom and abilities were already proven during his tenure as the Acting Pahang Sultan.

“There could be no greater news than if Al-Sultan Abdullah becomes the new King,” he said.

Rosmina Fatimah Ramli, 31 from Paloh Hinai, Pekan said he is praying for the Sultan of Pahang to become the new Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

“Based on the monarchial rotation system, it is his right to become the King, as Pahang’s turn comes after Kelantan,” she said.

M.G Kasthuri, 35 from Kuala Lipis, Pahang, firmly believes that Al-Sultan Abdullah should be the Yang di-Pertuan Agong based on his experience.

“I have the utmost faith that he is able to bear the responsibilities of being the King for the next five years,” he said.

His views were echoed by Mohd Darus Mat Daud, 39, from Tanah Putih Baru, who said Al-Sultan Abdullah is capable to carrying out the duties entrusted in him should he become the new Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

“The Sultan is well known as someone who is close to the people. We sincerely hope that he becomes the next Yang di-Pertuan Agong,” he said.

The Conference of Rulers will convene on Thursday to decide on who will become the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong ke-16 as well as the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
