The corruption case against the former aide to Rosmah Mansor, Rizal Mansor (no relation), will now be heard by the Kuala Lumpur High Court.
This was fixed after High Court judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan allowed an application by Rizal's defence counsel to transfer the case which was previously before the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court.
Zaini made the ruling after hearing the application form Rizal's lawyer Ridha Abdah Subri. The prosecution led by deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Akram Gharib did not object.
Justice Zaini then ordered the parties to inform the Sessions Court though the High Court mention date was not set pending the submission of documents.
Rizal, 44, pleaded not guilty on Nov 15 to four counts of soliciting and receiving bribes amounting to RM5.5 million for himself and Rosmah, who is the wife of former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak.
This involved the supply and installation of a solar hybrid system for rural schools in Sarawak.
During mention before Sessions Court judge Rozina Ayob on Nov 29, Ridha informed the court that the defence was seeking to transfer the case to the High Court. - Mkini
