KUALA LUMPUR: As Malaysians are still reeling over the resignation of Sultan Muhammad V as the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, many netizens have turned to social media sharing their views on who they aspire to be the next King.
“So, who’s next?” one social media user, SarahA, via Twitter handle @SarahAdham said.
Among netizens’ top favourites are Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, who is the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong, and Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.
“Would Sultan of Perak be the next (Yang di-Pertuan Agong) or (Sultan of) Johor or other? What do you guys think?” asked another Twitter user, Christopher Cheu.
One Ismul Adham said he hoped that the Sultan of Perak would be crown as the next King.
Sharing the same sentiment was another social media user, Ivan Zaharuddin via his twitter handle, @ivan_z84.
“I really hope Sultan Nazrin of Perak will be the next Agong. Daulat Tuanku.”
A Facebook user by the name Lee said Sultan Nazrin is the best choice for him.
“Educated/well-mannered and down to earth,” he said.
Another Facebook user, Jessie Kiew, however, is off the opinion that Sultan of Johor should be chosen as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
The official Facebook of Sultan Iskandar have also been flooded by messages of people hoping that the Johor ruler would be appointed as the new king.
“Daulat Tuanku. I hope that Tuanku would be appointed as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. The rakyat are longing for peace and just. Ampun Tuanku,” said Sherry Shaz.
Sufie Aniq said he wished and looking forward for the day that Sultan Iskandar would be appointed as the new Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
One Gyp Sahid Al Haj meanwhile all quarters to respect the decision made Conference of Rules with regards to the appointment of the new King.
