Three who allegedly insulted former King out on bail

KUALA LUMPUR: The three individuals arrested for insulting Sultan Muhammad V have been released on police bail, says Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim.
The Deputy Inspector-General of Police said they were still investigating the matter following four reports that were lodged.
"We had to take action under the Sedition Act as such actions might jeopardise safety and public order.
"Law and order must be maintained, as well as preserving national security and inter-racial harmony," he told a press conference after attending the forum on the Increase in Child Abuse Cases here on Thursday (Jan 10).

Eric Liew Chee Ling, 46; Azham Akhtar Abdullah, 27; and Nur Alia Astaman, 26; were detained on Tuesday (Jan 8) and investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948.
Meanwhile, on the upcoming Cameron Highlands by-election, Noor Rashid said sufficient personnel would be deployed to maintain security.
"One of our main concerns is traffic, so we will address that.
"We will be working closely with other agencies as well during the by-election," he said.
He added that the safety of all involved in the by-election is a priority. - Star
