Umno Youth files police report against senator over 'threat'

Pahang Umno Youth has lodged a police report against senator Bob Manolan Mohd for allegedly threatening Orang Asli village chiefs (tok batin) into supporting Pakatan Harapan.
The report was lodged at the Tanah Rata police station by a representative of the group yesterday.
In a statement, Pahang Umno Youth chief Mohd Farid Mohd Nor said voters should be able to choose whomever they want as their representative without being subjected to threats.
Farid suggested that Bob Manolan had violated Section 124B of the Penal Code which refers to activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy.
During a dialogue event between the Harapan lawmakers with 18 tok batin at Pos Betau near Cameron Highlands yesterday, Bob Manolan said the tok batin should support Harapan because the coalition was now controlling the federal government.
He underscored that it was the government which appointed the village chiefs and paid their salaries. At one point, he said tok batin who did not support Harapan should be removed or not be paid.
Bob Manolan has disputed Malaysiakini's account of the dialogue. The news portal stands by its report and has uploaded an audio recording of Bob Manolan's speech.
Several tok batin who attended the event confirmed what Bob Manolan said and expressed their disappointment. - Mkini
