The defamation case by Energy, Technology, Science, Climate Change and Environment Minister Yeo Bee Yin against Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Mohd Yunus will go to trial in April.
Today, Yeo's lawyer Sankara Nair told Kuala Lumpur High Court judge Nik Hasmat Nik Mohamed that no settlement was reached during the mediation exercise between both parties.
Following this, the judge ordered trial on April 29 and 30 while case management was fixed for Feb 21.
Jamal was represented by his lawyer Mohd Nasir Yusof.
Yeo, who is now Bakri MP, filed the suit last year following allegations made by Jamal that she had misappropriated state funds meant for the Senior Citizens Friendly Scheme and disbursed through Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor, when she was Damansara Utara assemblyperson.
She said that Jamal's claim had affected her reputation and hence she sought RM4 million in damages. - Mkini
