IPOH – There is no plan to dissolve Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, says Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu after Umno Youth suggested that the party be disbanded after the ouster of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as prime minister.
“Why should we ‘close shop’ when there are many who are interested to join the party?” said Ahmad Faisal.
“Umno is still relevant?
“Please tell Asyraf that I would like to suggest that Umno close shop instead,” said the state Bersatu chairman at the State Secretarial building here on Jan 24.
Umno Youth chief Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuku said during a Facebook Live session on Jan 23 that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad should disband Bersatu now that he had attained his goal of ousting Najib.
He added that he would like to invite all Bersatu members to join Umno.
Asyraf said none of the 23,000 of Umno Youth branches in Malaysia had shut down, and they were, in fact, getting more active with their new mission.
“PPBM’s (Bersatu) Youth wing chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has recently come out to say Malay rights aren’t relevant,” he alleged.
“Who else is going to defend Islam and Malay rights in Malaysia but Umno?” he added.
