17-year-old beaten up for saying no to gang invite



KULAI: An unemployed teenager was severely beaten by his own friends because he rejected their offer of joining their secret society.
The incident happened when the 17-year-old victim was waiting for a friend at a premises along Jalan Sutera Tanjung 8/3 in Taman Ungku Tun Aminah here at around 3.50am on March 22 when six cars approached him.
Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said that seven teenagers who were known to the victim from school pulled him into one of the cars and drove off.
“In the car, the victim was threatened with a knife and he was blindfolded by the suspects.
“When they reached the location, the suspects then beat up the victim for rejecting their offer of being part of Geng 265 and 21,” he said when contacted Tuesday (March 26).
Supt Tok added that the victim was then left in a palm oil plantation near Senai here with injuries to his head, body and broken fingers on both of his hands.
He said that based upon investigations, police arrested three suspects, between the ages of 16 and 18 years old, at Indahpura and Taman Ungku Tun Aminah on Monday (March 25) at around 12.15am.
Supt Tok said the suspects were being remanded until Wednesday (March 27) to assist with the investigations under Section 148 of the Penal Code and Section 326 of the same Act.- Star
