After polls win, Mat Hasan credits Najib for bringing new aura to BN

Acting BN chairperson Mohamad Hasan has credited former premier Najib Abdul Razak's "bossku" persona as a contributing factor in the coalition's Semenyih by-election victory today.

"Everyone played a role, there wasn't one that played a greater role than the other.
"But definitely, Najib's movement brought in a new aura to help BN win," Mohamad said at a press conference in Semenyih today.
He said this when asked if the former Umno president's new "bossku" persona was a factor that led to BN's win, and if the coalition would engage Najib for the upcoming Rantau by-election.
BN's recaptured the Semenyih state seat tonight after Zakaria Hanafi won 19,780 votes, a 1,914-majority over Harapan's Muhammad Aiman Zainali's (17,866 votes).

BN had lost the seat for the first time in the 2018 general election.
Meanwhile, Mohamad said the outcome of Semenyih was a people's referendum against Harapan.
"This is a people's referendum, they regret and are not satisfied with Harapan's performance, especially with their promises which lulled voters," he said.
With Semenyih by-election over, the spotlight now falls on Mohamad, whose Rantau state seat is due for a by-election.
The former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar had won the seat uncontested in the 14th general election, but this outcome had been overturned by an election court.
The EC has until late April to hold the by-election. - Mkini
