Azmin dismisses claim of no-confidence vote against PM

PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali said today that there is no such thing as a no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, as PAS had previously claimed.

Instead, he stressed, now is the time for Pakatan Harapan to give Mahathir its utmost support as the head of government.
"It (no-confidence vote issue) does not arise, as the rakyat has given (Pakatan Harapan) the biggest mandate after 60 years of independence.
"This is the first time the rakyat have dared to change (the government).
"We should carry the rakyat's aspirations for a stable Harapan government, strengthen the economy, and rehabilitate the country's system which had taken a hit in previous years," he told reporters after a meeting with the PKR leadership in Kota Bharu tonight.
The purported plot within Harapan to oust Mahathir was first raised by PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan.
He claimed that in a meeting last month, PAS leaders had pledged to back the premier in the case of a no-confidence vote being raised in Parliament.

Harapan leaders, however, denied the existence of any such manoeuvre.
On another matter, the economic affairs minister said Putrajaya will expedite development projects previously approved for Kelantan.
"We will continue to develop Kelantan to attract investors, which in turn, will provide jobs for Kelantan folk.
"This is the new policy by the Harapan-led federal government – to not sideline any state, including Kelantan," he said.  - Mkini
