Batu Caves temple committee critic claims interview cancelled due to threats

The chairperson of an NGO, which has been vocal about the alleged wrongdoings of the Batu Caves Sri Subramaniar Temple committee, has lodged a police report following the cancellation of a radio programme he was supposed to be featured in regarding the issue.

Arun Doraisamy claimed the radio station - THR Raaga - cited security concerns for cancelling the slot.
"My interview which was to be aired at 5.30pm this evening was cancelled. The radio station said it received several threatening phone calls from unknown persons.
"Since yesterday evening, the station has been bombarded with such calls, and even the CEO received it, forcing them to cancel the interview," he told Malaysiakini.
Malaysiakini has contacted THR Raaga and is awaiting its response regarding the matter.
On Wednesday, Arun, who heads the Reform Batu Caves (Reform BC) task force, demanded the resignation of all members of the committee managing the temple to make room for fresh elections.
This is after MACC arrested a senior committee official with the title "Tan Sri", his son, a “Datuk”, and another person in connection with a land issue in Kuala Lumpur.
The 75-year-old Tan Sri has since been released on bail due to health reasons whereas the other two are still under remand to facilitate investigations.

In his report lodged with the Iskandar Puteri police station in Johor this afternoon, Arun alleged that the threatening phone calls came from quarters who were upset regarding his remarks on the case.
He said the radio station had promoted the interview and even sourced for possible questions from listeners.
Arun added he would hold a live Facebook session at 5.30pm to share with viewers what he wanted to state in the radio interview. - Mkini
