A DAP lawmaker has challenged blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin to return to Malaysia to pursue his allegation of corruption in Penang's undersea tunnel project, in which he implicated Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.
Jelutong MP RSN Rayer said if the London-based blogger possessed evidence, he should come back and expose it.
"Numerous times, I have challenged those who made allegations against the project to lodge a report with the MACC and to repeat the allegations outside instead of hiding behind Dewan Rakyat's immunity to make baseless claims.
"So we challenge Raja Petra to come back,” he added.
Rayer was commenting on the fugitive blogger appealing to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to allow him to return to assist the authorities in investigating the matter.
The blogger said he wished to be treated like a hero, a VVIP and be invited to tea in Putrajaya.
He said the same treatment was accorded to 1MDB whistleblowers, Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle Brown and former Swiss banker Xavier Andre Justo, when they visited Malaysia after the last general election.
"At one time, he supported PKR president Anwar Ibrahim and criticised former premier Najib Abdul Razak, but he later became a turncoat," he added.
Rayer said he did not wish to waste time discussing Raja Petra as the latter is a "nobody, just a loose cannon".
"If he is really interested in the welfare of the people in this country, what is he doing in London? Come back and do nation-building here," he added. - Mkini
