IPOH: Non-governmental organisations (NGO) in Perak will soon be able to apply for government funds online, says Hasnul Zulkarnain Abd Munaim.
The state Communication, Multimedia, NGO and Cooperatives Development Committee chairman said the funds could be applied through a web portal or a mobile app starting Apr 1.
“Previously, NGOs needing funds had to send their proposals to my portfolio.
"With advanced technology, we want to encourage the use of online systems," he said during a press conference at the state secretariat building here today (Feb 6).
"Not only will it be more efficient, it will also avoid any duplication in applications and encourages transparency,” he added.
Hasnul Zulkarnain said those eligible included NGOS for volunteerism, charity, sports and recreational.

“They will first need to register themselves before submitting their application.
"They will still need to print the application form and send the related documents to my office," he said, adding that the status of an application could also be checked online.- Star
