DAP can 'marry' PAS but others can't? - MIC

MIC has questioned DAP's double standards when it comes to parties cooperating with PAS.

"DAP had worked with PAS in (more than) two (general) elections.
"When they (DAP) got married (to PAS) it is legal, but when we want to get married (with PAS), it has become illegal?" MIC president SA Vigneswaran said at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.
"We are not going to put up with all this bull, it works both ways," he added.
DAP had in the past formed alliances with PAS, most notably in the 2008 and 2013 general elections, as part of Pakatan Rakyat.
However, the two had a bitter falling-ut in 2015 which led to the demise of Pakatan.
Following last year's general election, MIC, together with Umno, had formed closer ties with PAS.
Vigneswaran said MIC has no problems working with PAS as part of the opposition.
Meanwhile, MCA president Wee Ka Siong, who was also present, said his party was open to working with PAS on certain issues.

"MCA's stance is clear. We must observe the spirit of BN to uphold the Federal Constitution.
"During the (BN supreme council) meeting, we have said it again and again: We have no problem to work with any parties including PAS if it is for the benefit of the people based on universal values," he said.
Both Wee and Vigneswaran also stressed that PAS would not be joining BN, and that the Islamist party's Malay agenda with Umno was strictly a matter between those two parties. - Mkini
