Felcra chief says yelling at workers 'the norm' on plantations

Moments of high tension are the norm when working on plantations, according to Felcra Bhd chairperson Nageeb Ahmad Abdul Wahab.

Responding to a viral video of the agency's COO Khairi Mahamor yelling at workers, Nageeb nevertheless assured that an internal decision will be made on the matter.
"To be frank if you are used to working in a plantation, it is the norm. But maybe his ways are no longer acceptable these days.
"We are not saying that we are right," he said after a joint press conference with the heads of Risda, Felda and the National Association of Smallholders at the Felcra headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.
Asked whether action would be taken against Khairi, Felcra CEO Mohd Nazrul Izam said the matter will be discussed at a board meeting tomorrow.
"Any further action will be considered (at the meeting)," he said.
Felcra posted several videos and photographs on its official Twitter account yesterday in response to the viral video of Khairi yelling at workers.
The viral video was originally posted by a netizen using the Twitter handle @ladydarshankaur on Monday.
The accompanying caption stated: “The attitude of a leader who has only been Felcra Bhd’s COO for four months. This is the quality of Pakatan Harapan appointees. See for yourself.”

He went on to reprimand those who supervised the workers for failing to explain how the job should be done.
"Explain! Do not only sit in your office!" he was heard yelling at a worker.
According to Felcra's Twitter post, the incident happened during a visit to a project in Kampung Serambi, Pekan on Saturday.
Since then, several netizens have come to the defence of the Felcra COO on Twitter.
