Guan Eng maintains Umno, PAS 'targeting' non-Muslims

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng today brushed off criticisms by Umno and MCA leaders over his warning that Umno and PAS were now "targeting" non-Muslims.

"Please read the corrected version," he said curtly during a press conference in Kuala Lumpur when asked for a response to plans to lodge police reports against him.
On Wednesday, Lim issued a statement in Chinese urging MCA to immediately leave BN because Umno and PAS were now "declaring war" on non-Muslims.
He issued a correction at about 10pm last night which replaced the phrase "declaring war" with "targeting". Both the original statement and the corrected version were in Chinese and issued in his capacity as DAP leader.
He argued that Umno's and PAS' by-election campaign strategies relied heavily on racial rhetoric such as condemnation against the federal government for fundingChinese schools, for appointing non-Muslims to key positions, that Malays are now "guests" and that BN could win elections without Chinese or Indian support, among others.
Umno youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki is expected to lead the youth wings of Umno, PAS, MCA and MIC today to lodge a report against Lim's statement.
MCA president Wee Ka Siong has accused Lim of adding fuel to fire.
"You are indirectly asking your opponents to endorse the 'war declaration'," Wee had said.
Meanwhile, Lim said he was not surprised that MCA was lodging a police report against him and asked if MCA would do the same against BN's new ally PAS.

"Why did MCA keep mum when PAS and Umno attacked us (the government) for providing financial allocations to Chinese schools?" he asked.
He also questioned why PAS and Umno did not defend him when MCA criticised the federal government for granting funds to tahfiz schools.
Earlier, Lim officiated the Bank Pembangunan's RM3 billion Industry Digitalisation Transformation Fund. - Mkini
