I’m far happier doing business, says ex-MCA president

Former MCA president and transport minister Ong Tee Keat.
PETALING JAYA: Former MCA president Ong Tee Keat revealed today he has received offers to rejoin politics but had declined these offers.
Ong said he has left the world of politics and is much happier.
“I have forgotten politics. Now, I am involved in business,” he said.
Declining to reveal those who made the offer, the 63-year-old said in politics there are a lot of enemies but in business there are only competitors.
He was speaking to reporters after a memorandum of understanding between The Royal Bumbon Resort Holdings and Resorts Savers Inc.
The 37ha project, costing RM1.2 billion, involves developing a modern cancer and stem cell centre with resorts and a Malaysia MySecond Home centre in Bumbon Island, Langkawi.
In 2017, Ong left MCA, the party he once led. He had been an MCA member for more than 30 years.
Ong had served as Ampang Jaya MP for five terms.
Ong was appointed transport minister after the 2008 general election and was elected MCA president the same year. - FMT
